Description: XLR8 is a year-long professional development program that targets agriculture teachers in their 7th-15th year of teaching.
The overall goals of this program include:
*develop experienced teacher leaders who will mentor other teachers in the profession;
*provide mid-career level specific professional development to participants;
* increase overall longevity and satisfaction of participants with their chosen career of teaching agriculture.

Growing Success in Your Greenhouse

Location: Room 107F (Soils Lab) at the Ropp Ag Building, Illinois State University, 301 N. Main Street, Normal, IL

Description: Attend this workshop to learn tips for managing your greenhouse from top to bottom. Topics include identifying structural systems in your greenhouse, common pests and diseases and how to control them, planting schedules and the tools to create your own, student management in the greenhouse, and opportunities for funding and fundraising. We will also play a matching game, practice writing a grant request, create a plant management schedule, and plant some seeds for success.

9AM - 10AM: Introductions and Greenhouse Systems
10AM -11AM: Common Pests and Diseases (with Kahoot)
11AM - 12PM: Funding and Fundraising in the Greenhouse (with Budget worksheet)
12PM - 12:30PM: Working Lunch–Brainstorm ideas for what you might want to grow
12:30 - 1:30PM: Planting Guide–Schedules and Supplies (Make a plan for one product, plus seed starting and propagation activity)
1:30 - 2:30PM: Managing Students in the Greenhouse (Make a map of your greenhouse)
2:30 - 3PM: Questions and Wrap-Up
