- 2019 SAE GRANT
The 2019 SAE Grant cycle is open and the application is ready for members to complete and submit. Click here to find a one page flyer with details about the SAE Grants and links to the application system and information. Please help your members with this opportunity to receive $1,000 to start or expand a member’s SAE.
Please NOTICE two things:
-
Early completion is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The SAE Grant submission deadline is Nov 15, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. EASTERN Time the system automatically shuts down at that time. Members who wait until the last minute and then find they have a computer or membership issue will miss out on the opportunity to apply. We can easily help solve these issues in the weeks and days prior to the deadline but will not extend the deadline.
-
FFA Chapters MUST have your roster submitted to state and approved by your Administration in order for us to process it to National FFA, if you haven’t done that by the deadline, there is no way to ensure your student is on the roster in order to apply.

Tractor Restoration Opportunity
Please read this message from Mr. Frank:
I am searching for an FFA Chapter in Illinois to restore my fathers 1978 John Deere 2240 diesel utility tractor with loader. The tractor has approximately 1000 hours and is in good mechanical condition. It needs cleaned, painted, decals at a minimum. It may need tires. The engine and drive train are in good shape. It probably needs hoses belts batteries etc. The tractor starts and runs fine. I would like to find a chapter that I could deliver the tractor to at a time of their choosing. They would do the restoration as they determine appropriate. I would pay for all the parts. I would pick the tractor up when they are finished and I would pay them a fee as a chapter donation. If you could put me in touch with a chapter that would be interested I would appreciate it. I was President of the Sparland FFA Chapter in 1967 and President of the SIU Collegiate FFA Chapter in 1970. My sons participated in FFA in Athens. I have restored five other antique tractors that were in my wife and my family. This is the last one I need to restore and am looking for a chapter that is good at painting. Thank you.
James F. Frank,

Springfield, Illinois 62707
Please email mbunselmeyer@illinoisffa.org if you are interested and then we can match you up with Mr. Frank. THANKS!

DreamDirt Farm Real Estate and Auction’s scholarship opportunity.
DreamDirt and Farmland Agent Rachel Hoy are more than excited to offer a $1,250 scholarship to a high school senior pursuing a career in the agriculture industry. This scholarship is in memory of Marilyn K. Hoy, who sadly lost her battle to breast cancer in 2010, and is the late mother of Rachel Hoy.
“I lost my mother, Marilyn Hoy, when I was just 14 years old. She battled breast cancer my entire life. In my short time with her, she instilled in me a love for agriculture that remains my passion today. My mom had a special fondness for pigs and I can recall many stories about her helping my dad raise them when I was only a few years old.
She elected to enroll me in 4-H and always helped me with my projects. I knew even at that age what she was doing for me would shape the person I am today. The time spent working on my projects with her will never be forgotten. Even when her health was failing, she refused to miss a county fair where my little sister and I would show. I even pushed her in a wheelchair so she could still watch us exhibit our projects.
My mother was a strong and courageous woman who helped anybody she could. Her generosity was indisputable, and I am proud to share her spirit while celebrating her life with this scholarship to agricultural majors that have experienced the same hardship of battling breast cancer with a loved one. “ -Farmland Agent Rachel Hoy
Not only is October the start of the harvest season, but it is also National Pork Month, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For this scholarship, applicants will need to complete the application form attached and send in 3 photos with corresponding essays. The 3 photos and essays should reflect, in some way: Harvest, Pigs/Porktober, and Breast Cancer Awareness. This application requirement is very open ended – we encourage applicants be as creative as they want!
Applications need to be submitted on or before October 31, 2019 to the following email address: Rachel@DreamDirt.com.
