1.  Reminder to check your account balances on the ilaged.org website.

 

When you sign on to the new website go to your dashboard then Account Balances to find invoices and posted payments.  If you see an amount in RED then you have an unpaid invoice.  Please send payment as soon as possible if you have questions please contact Jannette Allotey at jallotey@illinoisffa.org.  Prior to reaching out to Jannette, please follow up with your school bookkeeper first to insure a payment has been sent.  Then please include information about that payment when you contact Jannette.  Example: date sent, amount of check, and check number.  We will do our best to have as many payments posted as possible prior to this email as possible.  

I will post a reminder the last Tuesday of each month to remind you to check you account, that will ensure that Jannette has had time to reconcile the accounts and the information on the website is the most up to date.  

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.  

2.  GROWMARK Announces 2020 Essay Contest Theme

The theme for the 2020 GROWMARK Essay Contest is: “Describe the ‘Farmer of the Future.’ What tools or skills will he or she need to be successful?” The contest is open to all high school FFA members in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

This is the 27th year for the program, sponsored by the GROWMARK System and FS member cooperatives, in conjunction with state FFA leaders, to help young people develop their writing skills, learn about current issues affecting agriculture, and understand the unique role of cooperatives. 

Students will share their idea of what the farmers of tomorrow will be and discuss the skills and tools they will need to use. 

Essays will be submitted online at www.bit.ly/GMKEssay2020. The deadline for all submissions is midnight Central time on November 8, 2019. Additional program details have been sent to agriculture teachers and are online at www.growmark.com. 

Each state’s winner earns a $500 award and the winner’s FFA chapter receives a $300 award. Four runners-up per state each win $125 awards.

The program is offered annually and many agriculture teachers use it as part of their class curriculum. Past topics have included sustainability, careers in agriculture, and the cooperative principles.

GROWMARK is a regional cooperative providing agronomy, energy, facility planning, and logistics products and services, as well as grain marketing and risk management services, across North America. GROWMARK owns the FS trademark, which is used by affiliated member cooperatives. More information is available at www.growmark.com
