Harrisburg High School, located in Section 25, is seeking TWO full time agriculture teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. Courses taught will be determined by the strengths of the hired candidate and the high school needs. This agriculture program is a three teacher program, therefore the newly hired will work with Mrs. Eliza Arnold.
Facilities include three large classrooms, 48’X110’ shop that was moved into in the spring of 2018, a 2020 newly built 32’X48’ greenhouse, a 23 acre field plot (located at the Middle School), as well as a food science lab. Shop facilities include, 6 welding booths, 2-post automotive lift, 25 Briggs & Stratton small engines, SawStop table saw, industrial woodworking tools, and Lincoln Push/Pull Ventilation system. The greenhouse has automatic waterers, cooling pads, and app climate control. The food science lab has 4 full kitchens and was built in 2018.
Within the program there are currently 209 students taking an agriculture education course including 30 FFA members. Current courses offered, but are able to be adapted due to strengths of the hired individual, include Introduction to Agricultural Industry, Agricultural Business Management, Animal Science, Basic Agricultural Science, Basic Horticultural Science, Food Science Technology, Landscaping & Turf Management, Natural Resources Conservation & Management, Basic Agricultural Mechanics, Agricultural Metal Fabrication, Agricultural Construction & Technology and Agricultural Communications & Leadership.
