Safe Electricity
Safe Electricity is a not-for-profit organization who operates under the University of Illinois Extension. The organization provides thousands of safety-minded resources to more than 500 utility members from across the country to help save lives and reduce injuries. They recently developed an educational campaign focused on electrical safety around the farm and are hoping that agriculture teachers can help us spread this education. Studies have shown that stories resonate with people to impact decisions and behavior, and in turn, prevent injuries and save lives. And we have been working hard on a story to help do just that. Bailey and Cody Conrady graciously shared their story with us and were instrumental in helping us develop resources to help educate others about electrical hazards.
All of the Safe Electricity resources can be downloaded from this page: https://safeelectricity.org/farm-safety/
Safe Electricity is asking for your help in getting Cody’s story out. Please consider using components of the Cody Conrady campaign to help save lives. Use them in your classrooms or in your safety promotions as a FFA chapter event or social media venues.
Resources include:
• Two personal story videos.
• A two-page print spread.
• A one-page print graphic.
• Two social media graphics and four text post options.
• A planting safety infographic.
• Audio PSAs.
We hope that you will help us spread the word about farm safety and if you have ideas about others that can help us spread this life-saving information please reach out and let me know. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Together we will save lives through education.
With safety in mind,
Erin Hollinshead, Executive Director
