2021 IAVAT Professional Development Spring Series
Title: LGBTQIA+ Cultural Competency Training
Date: April 6, 2021 - 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Description: The training covers LGBTQIA+ terminology, gender-neutral language, and pronoun use. The workshop introduces allyship as an ongoing process and covers simple ways you can symbolize inclusion and affirmation of LGBTQ people.
About the Presenter: Jaz Routon is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with research focusing on rural LGBTQ+ individuals and families and their experiences of poverty, housing instability, and other social inequalities. She also explores the impact of municipal, state, and federal policy, on LGBTQ populations. Jaz also serves on the board of Uniting Pride and offers various LGBTQ+-focused trainings through Uniting Pride.
