We have the four openings for our upcoming Poultry Judging CDE.
2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM. First come, first serve. Varsity and/or Novice,
10 maximum from a school. Cost is $1.00/contestant 9 cost of the card).
The Section 4 Poultry Judging Career Development will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Pre-Registration is required and will close on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Schools will have staggered starting times and will leave the facility when they have completed. All participants and advisors will follow current IDPH Guidelines. We will meet in ROWVA Agriculture Center which is located North of the Baseball field/High School. We will follow the State Rules found at: https://www.ilaged.org/poultry A sample Scantron is attached.
Practicums include (depending on availability)
1) Production Hens: place ring of 4
2) Production Hens: place ring of 4
3) Ready to Cook Poultry: class of 4 whole dressed birds
4) Carcass Grading: 10 ready to cook carcasses are graded
5) Interior Egg Grading: candling, 10 white shelled eggs are graded
6) Exterior Egg Quality Grading: 10 white-shelled eggs are classified
7) Exterior Egg Quality Written Factors: 10 white-shelled eggs are evaluated for 12
different quality factors.
8) Further Processed Poultry Meat Products Evaluation: determine written quality factors for
a class of 10 further processed poultry meat products
9) Identification of Carcass Parts: identify 10 poultry parts
10) Written Test: 25 Questions
