1. Final Convention Preparations

Since the forecast for rain is looming over the convention events like a nimbus cloud...no pun intended, we wanted you to be prepared.  

Here are the plans in case of rain: 

• Best case scenario we rain delay for an hour or two.  Worst case scenario, you get your plaques and go.  

• On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, if the rain doesn’t appear to be passing with a delay, we will move to the Commodities Pavillion directly across the street from the Grandstand.  We will do all of the same recognitions of Stars Over Illinois and Retiring Moments, as well as Creed Presentation, Top Section Presidents, and Major’s Parent & Advisor recognition.  We ask that everyone else tune in via Live Stream. 

• On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, if the rain doesn’t appear to be passing with a delay, we will move the District 3 & 4 Recognitions to Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.  

• On Thursday, June 10, 2021, if the rain doesn’t appear to be passing with a delay, we will move to the Commodities Pavillion directly across the street from the Grandstand. Candidates will present their speeches and we ask that everyone watch via Live Stream and delegates join the Zoom call that other remote delegates are using.  All delegates will continue to use www.ttpoll.com for voting.  

Other Advice:  

• Bring towels or paper towels to wipe down your seats, as the State Fairgrounds staff will NOT be working the venue like when they have a concert.  It’s on you to wipe down your seats if they get rained on. 

• Bring umbrellas and ponchos.  

• Award recipients will have to cross the track to get backstage, we are encouraging FFA members to wear old shoes. We have some coverings for the track but with the amount of rain we got on Monday evening, we know the track will be muddy. Even if they wear old shoes to cross the track and then put on dress shoes when you are on stage.

Reminders & Updates:

• Enter at Gate 7

• Park in Lot 21

• Two sets of restrooms will be OPEN - One near the Goat Barn (Building 60) that will be open, when you park in Lot 21 and walk towards the Grandstand, you will walk right by them.  

• 2nd - Restrooms are on the ground level of the Grandstand when you walk in Gate 2 of the Grandstand for registration and to enter the Grandstand.  

• For anyone needing an elevator to enter the Grandstand, please just let staff know at registration and we will escort you to the elevator.
