New Online Agricultural Education Graduate-Level Coursework Offered at ISU

The Illinois State University Department of Agriculture is excited to announce that the existing Master's degree in Agricultural Education & Leadership program can now be done completely online.  If you are interested in pursuing a masters degree, or just need graduate hours to advance on the pay scale, this program (or courses) may be for you.

The Agricultural Education and Leadership M.S. sequence was designed to advance an educators skills and knowledge in the field of both formal and non-formal agricultural education.  Through a cross-disciplinary approach, utilizing courses and resources from a variety of departments and programs on campus, individuals can tailor a program to provide the skills and knowledge to advance them in their career.

The Ag Ed & Leadership sequence is a 36-credit hour program.  Students would take 7 hours of core coursework, 14 hours of agriculture classes, 9 hours of education or technology courses, and 6 hours of research (thesis) OR independent study/additional coursework (non-thesis).

This upcoming spring semester (spring 2022) we will be offering AGR 491- Foundations of Agricultural Education as an online, asynchronous course.  Registration for this course is now open.

If you are interested in starting the program or taking a class this upcoming spring semester, please apply for admission as soon as possible ( The graduate school has a soft deadline for admission (October 15 and March 15), but the department reviews applications on a rolling-basis.  You just need to let us know.

More information about the program can be found in the attached document or at the following website:
