Resectioning Feedback and Golden Owl Reminders
  John Edgar  12/3/2021 7:00:00 AM

Deadlines are quickly approaching for the following important opportunities!

1. Round 1 Resectioning Feedback
Please be sure to submit your feedback (here) regarding the Round 1 Resectioning Proposals presented last week during BUILD Conference. Feedback must be submitted by next Monday, December 6, 2022 for the Special Projects committee to analyze feedback and make any adjustments to the proposals prior to presenting to IAVAT and FFA boards at their joint board meeting January 7, 2022. Please note that this is NOT the final opportunity for feedback. Feedback will continue to be collected, analyzed, and implemented throughout the next few months before a decision is made regarding IAVAT section alignment mid-spring.

If you were unable to attend the original town hall, a recording can be found here with information regarding the original proposals along with here in the original listserv that was shared.

2. Golden Owl Award Nominations - Deadline December 31
Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers is proud to partner with Nationwide, Illinois Association FFA, Farm Credit Illinois, and Compeer Financial to offer the Golden Owl Award. The Golden Owl Award® allows us to also extend our support to agricultural educators who devote countless hours, and often their own resources, to positively impact the lives of their students.

With the Golden Owl Award, students, fellow teachers and other supporters can nominate their favorite agricultural teacher and summarize what makes him or her the best in their state. Nominees can win the distinction of being their state’s Agricultural Educator of the Year and the following prizes:

$500 and an engraved plaque to each honoree

$3,000 and the coveted Golden Owl Award trophy to each state’s grand prize winner (Agricultural Educator of the Year)

In conjunction with the Golden Owl Award, Nationwide is donating $5,000 to each participating state’s FFA to further support the personal and professional growth of students, teachers and advisors alike.

Nominate an outstanding Illinois agricultural educator (here) August 1 through December 31, 2021.
