Mt. Vernon Township High School has an immediate vacancy for an agriculture instructor & FFA Advisor. They will work as part of a multi-teacher agriculture program with current instructors Cherie Rogier & John Kabat. Salary and FFA stipend will be in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and experience level. Courses to be taught include: Basic Ag Mechanics (welding and small engines), Ag Mechanics & Technology, Veterinary Technology, and Natural Resources & Conservation Management.
The agriculture department includes two classrooms with interactive whiteboards and projectors, an FFA center, school-issued copier and color printer, mini-kitchen, agriculture mechanics shop, and greenhouse with attached learning laboratory. Mt. Vernon Township High School is a 1:1 school, with all students having Chromebooks and all teachers issued laptops in addition to classroom desktops.
The Mt. Vernon agriculture program serves around 250 students and has 100% FFA membership and SAE participation. The program is highly active throughout the year, and maintains a high level of expectation and competition throughout its many activities.
