Ben Cutler here from Ameren Illinois. Our team is exploring the idea of building a web-based module focused on electric and natural gas safety on the farm. The module would contain an informational/instructional video, fact sheet, infographic and other engaging materials instructors can easily download and utilize in the classroom. Our plan is to focus mainly on tips for keeping farm equipment away from overhead electric infrastructure, as well as proper protocol should accidents occur. We’ll also explore safety pertaining to our natural gas pipelines buried beneath the ground.
Before we get too far down the road on this concept, we would like the opportunity to gather your feedback. Is this something you currently teach in the classroom? Would you find a new set of materials helpful and/or valuable? If so, what would you like to see included? Any and all feedback will help us design the best possible resource for your classrooms.
For reference, please view our new downed power line and vehicle safety module that was recently distributed with the help of the Illinois High School and College Driver Education Association to 500+ driver education instructors across the state. We would envision a similar resource, excepted geared more toward farm safety. Here is the link.
Please direct all feedback to either benjamin@serafin.com or fill out our brief survey here. Thanks for your time and input. We know this is a busy time of year.
