  Megan Coy  1/27/2020 1:18:00 PM

The Dwayne O. Andreas Ag Academy is looking to hire a fourth Agriculture Teacher/FFA Advisor, for the 2020-2021 school year, to work at MacArthur High School with co-teacher and advisor, Andrew Klein.  The program is well funded and supported.  Currently, the program is home to over 340 students (100% FFA and SAE). The Ag Academy is currently stewarding a 15-acre school living science farm for classroom instruction and student SAEs. The living science farm includes a livestock facility, extensive garden space, and a pollinator research plot.

Each high school has access to extensive community resources, and has continued to build interest in many community partners. The program is looking for a fourth teacher to help fill the need of a growing program. While dedicated to teaching at one school, all Andreas Ag Academy teachers work together to coordinate activities, programs, scholarships, conventions, etc.

Courses currently offered are Intro to Ag Industry, Basic Agriscience, Agribusiness, Ag Communications and Leadership, and Dual Credit Horticulture through Richland Community College. Courses to be added next fall are Agricultural Mechanics and Animal Science. Agriculture courses will also incorporate an Honors option next fall. Honors Agriculture students will be taught alongside other Agriculture students but will be held to other curricular, FFA, and SAE obligations.

Position will quality for three-circles grant, and offers a competitive salary/benefits package.
