Dear Educator,
Seed Your Future and the Get Growing Foundation are partnering to host a free Green-Collar Career Exploration and Networking Breakfastfor students at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show. We’re excited to share the details of the event with you and your students. Attached is a special invitation for you to share with your students. Feel free to post it in your classroom/department and share copies with your students. (We’ve also attached a .jpg if you would like to post it on your own site or in a newsletter.)
The event web page is: https://www.seedyourfuture.org/gccnb_il
Your students, and students from other area colleges, universities, high schools and technical programs, are invited to attend the free breakfast and networking event at the show, Saturday March 21, 2020 – between 9:30 am and noon.
- They will get the opportunity to meet green-collar and horticulture professionals to discover and learn about the more than 100 careers in the art, science, technology and business of plants.
- We'll start with a brief panel discussion, and then they will be able to choose to meet with professionals in small groups (and perhaps even one-on-one) to learn more about what they do, how and where they got their education and training, and the job prospects for your future.
- We’ll have green-collar pros joining us including plant scientists, floral designers, landscape professionals, greenhouse growers, hydroponics experts, urban farmers, arborists, tech experts, business owners and more (we’ll update the web site with their names and a fun video over the coming weeks).
- All participants also receive a free ticket to the Chicago Flower & Garden Show ®, which they can use after the breakfast for the remainder of the day.
- If your students have an exhibit at the show and are working at your booth that day, they can take turns and drop in to the event when they’d like.
- This is a casual event with free breakfast and a great opportunity for your students to talk with people in a fun and relaxed environment.
- There is no cost for the event, however RSVP’s are required, and space is limited.
As educators, you can sign up your students as a group on the link above, or they can RSVP on their own at the same link. (You’re welcome to RSVP and attend as well.)
Let us know if you have any questions. Seed Your Future and the Get Growing Foundation are thrilled to present this event for your students, and our industry’s #FutureGreenCollar pros!
