Save the Date: Invitational Ag Ed CDE/Agriscience Fair

Agricultural Education CDE Invitational
April 22nd, 2020
Lesson Plans Due: April 8th
Decatur MacArthur High School

District IV will be hosting an Agricultural Education CDE Invitational to be held on April 22nd at MacArthur High School in Decatur. Since many of our sections and districts are not currently offering this CDE, we wanted to provide FFA members statewide with the opportunity to participate in the Agricultural Education CDE prior to competing in the State CDE.

This event is open to FFA members statewide with a limit of one entry per chapter. We will be following the State Rules, as posted on the ILAGED Website. Students participating in the Preliminary Round will submit lesson plans and supplemental materials to Megan Coy at mcoy@agriculturaleducation.org by April 8th. If your student would like feedback on their lesson plan prior to the State Lesson Plan Submission Date, you will need to submit one week earlier (April 1st).  Lessons should be created for a 9th Grade Introduction to Agriculture Class. Students can choose any content found in the Introduction to Agriculture Course Outline, as posted in the state rules. These plans must be submitted using the Lesson Plan template on the website (see attached document).  An example lesson plan can be found here.

A maximum of 10 contestants will be selected to advance the Invitational Finals based on their lesson plan scores. Finalists for the Invitational will be notified by April 15th (if less than 10 submissions, you will be notified April 9th), and a demonstration schedule will be developed at that point. The ten finalists will present their lesson to a class of 8-12 FFA members and a panel of judges at the assigned time on April 22nd at MacArthur High School. A laptop and projector will be provided in the demonstration room. All materials submitted with the original lesson plan will be pre-loaded onto the provided laptop.

Questions can be directed Megan Coy (mcoy@agriculturaleducation.org)
