  3. Teaching Vacancy: Rich Township High School STEM Campus

Administrators at Rich Township High School, serving the southern Cook County communities of Country Club Hills, Matteson, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Richton Park, and Chicago Heights, are excited about the growth of their AFNR program the STEM Campus which began in Fall 2021. They have an opening for AFNR Teacher & FFA Advisor for the 2022-2023 school year.

As the program moves into the second year, the community has much enthusiasm for an energetic teacher to build a program focused on Community and Urban Agriculture that is based strongly on the 3 circle model.

Courses to be offered include Intro to Ag and Plant/Animal Biology (BSAA). Future courses planned for implementation include Food Science, Urban Agriculture, Plant/Animal Processing, and Sustainable Agriculture.

This program is envisioned to focus heavily on community and sustainable agriculture while building student leadership and career skills. The teacher will work with community stakeholders and the middle school urban agriculture teacher to build their programs together. It is anticipated that this position will utilize the 3 Circles Grant. Construction of a farm lab and greenhouse are in the planning stages right now, they have recently purchased a food truck, and have developed relationships with nearby agribusinesses to increase student opportunities.
