1. Ed Curry Illinois FFA Leadership Camp Memorial Scholarship

Ed Curry was a long-time ag teacher and FFA advisor from Section 1 whose passion was to find the best in everyone.  He lived to make every moment count and to instill in his students that they were valued and they can make a difference.  His passion for camp was infectious.  

HE LOVED CAMP!  Every part of it.  He always loved a good challenge to try to have someone attend who was unsure about stepping outside of their comfort zone.  Mr. Curry was an FFA advisor, who taught with kindness, compassion, and inclusion. He volunteered his time as a staff member of the Illinois FFA Leadership Camp for every year, beginning in 2006.  Camp was a place where Mr. Curry was able to become a trusted mentor, advisor, and friend to many more students than he had in his chapter or section. He was always willing to lend an ear to listen or give advice and direction to anyone who sought him out.  He was a great friend to not only the FFA members attending camp but also to the other camp staff and the FFA Center staff, as well. Mr. Curry used his time at camp to impact as many members as he could.

To honor his work and life, camp scholarship(s) in the amount of $215.00 will be awarded to attend  Illinois FFA State Leadership Camp in Monticello.

Once a student completes the application the FFA Advisor must complete and submit a letter of recommendation stating why you think your student should be a recipient of the Ed Curry Memorial Camp Scholarship via email to intern@illinoisffa.org by May 15, 2022, for their FFA member who submits an application for the Ed Curry Memorial Camp Scholarship.  

Applicants and teachers will be notified by late May.  

2.  Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters Camp Scholarship Winners

Congratulations!  The following students will receive a 2022 Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters Leadership Camp Scholarship.  We had 31 students apply for the scholarship, and we were able to give 19 students a scholarship.  Thank you to all that applied.

In January, the Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters had their annual meeting and auction.  They had a successful auction and raised $37, 865 to be used towards scholarships.  Once again, we had FFA Chapters bring Chapter Baskets that were judged and Beecher City FFA won Best Basket and will receive a 2022 Illinois FFA Leadership Camp Scholarship.  Once the auction was completed, they decided to give everyone that brought a chapter basket a 2022 Illinois FFA Leadership Camp Scholarship.  We would love to have more chapter baskets at our next annual meeting and auction, save the date it will be on February 10-11, 2023 at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel, Springfield.  Here are the winners:

3.  Illinois FFA Leadership Camp Health Profile - Complete by Monday, July 11, 2022.

Once you have registered student(s) for 2022 Illinois FFA Leadership Camp, please have the student(s) and parent(s) sign the Signature Form and place the front of the student(s) insurance card at the bottom of the signed form and scan/email the signed form to their computer for they will need to upload it when completing the Camp Health Profile.  Please note they will need to have this information to complete the health profile: contact information, health history, medications if bringing to camp, etc.  Once the health profile is submitted, both the parent and the camper will receive an emailed receipt, they both will then need to reply “accept” that they have read the General Behavior Expectations that is attached to the signature form document.  Here are samples:  Sample of the Health Profile Questions & Sample of a Signed Signature Form/Insurance Card.  For the complete instructions including if a camper cancels, please see the instructions with registering for 2022 Illinois FFA Leadership Camp.  If you have any questions, please contact Patti Davis at pdavis@illinoisffa.org.

4. Illinois FFA Alumni and Supporters John Deere Gator Raffle Tickets

Drawing for the Winning Ticket will be Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the BOS Convention Center, Springfield, IL.  The winning FFA Chapter will receive $300 and we will draw two additional tickets and those different FFA Chapters will receive $250.

Tickets are:

• 1 for $10

• 3 for $25

• 20 for $100

40% of total ticket sales goes back to the local FFA Chapter.  If you would like to sell tickets, please email pdavis@illinoisffa.org with how many you would like sent to you.  If you'd prefer to just buy gator raffle tickets, you can mail a check to the IL FFA Alumni, 3221 Northfield Dr., Springfield, IL 62702, or pay by credit card (please add 3% to cover credit card fees) - please allocate to the Alumni and note: Gator Tickets.  We will mail you your ticket stubs.
