1. Ag Issues CDE

Ag Issues CDE will be on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Lincoln Land Community College, event times TBA.  Registration is open which is an open event to everyone this year.  Please register your team which can consist of 3-7 students and it costs:  IAVAT Member-$75 for a Team; Non-IAVAT Member-$300 Per Team.  Mandatory Registration closes on Monday, May 30, 2022, at 11:59 p.m.

3. 2022 National Chapter Award Results

All Bronze, Silver and Gold winning chapters, as well as the Section winners in Building Communities, Growing Leaders and Strengthening Agriculture Section winners will be recognized on stage at the 94th Illinois FFA State Convention on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, see times below.  The Section Premier Chapter Winners and National Finalists will be recognized on stage at the 94th Illinois FFA State Convention during the 5th and final session on Thursday, June 16, 2022.  

• 1st Session, Tuesday, June 14, 2022 - Growing Leaders Section Winners and State winners announced near the beginning of the session

• 1st Session, Tuesday, June 2022 - Building Communities Section Winners and State winners are announced near the end of the session.  

• 2nd Session, Tuesday, June 14, 2022 - Strengthening Agriculture Section Winners and State winners announced near the beginning of the session.

5. Trivia Night- State FFA Convention

It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s the FIRST EVER TRIVIA NIGHT at the State FFA Convention!  Get your chapter together and register to have a team at this Superhero themed event.  Categories will range from movie heroes to sports heroes and guitar heroes to ag heroes.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, best costume, best decorated table and much more.  We want to thank the Illinois FFA Alumni for donating prizes!

Details:

• Location: Student Union in Menard Hall at Lincoln Land Community College  

• Doors open at 5:30 to begin decorating tables, trivia will start promptly at 7:00 pm.   We plan to wrap up around 9:00 pm. 

• Registration can be completed by Ag Teachers at ilaged.org under Event Registration.  Note that the registration from this event is separate from convention registration.  Make sure to register quickly as we have a limited number of tables for this event.  

• Registration cost is $10/table.   Each table will be its own team and can have up to 8 team members.  Chapters can register for more than one table if they have more than 8 students wanting to participate.  Feel free to invite students from other chapters to help you fill your tables if you don’t have 8 students participating.

• Teams are encouraged to decorate their table using our superhero theme and can dress up as well.  Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated table and the best costume.  Please make sure all decorations/costumes are convention appropriate.  For more information on rules and additional activities please check out this document!

• Water, soda, and light snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own food and snacks.

• Lincoln Land College will also be having other activities like bags tournaments, 9 Square, Gaga Ball, Washers, Volleyball and more!  There will also be food trucks available.

Calling ALL Delegates, they MUST be signed up by May 25, 2022!  

Delegates (up to 2 members from each chapter) will be able to attend a virtual business session on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. 

Elections (in-person or virtual attendance) for Elections Session, Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 8:00 a.m.  Delegate registration must be completed by May 25, 2022, to create their delegate accounts and reserve their free convention t-shirt for serving as a delegate.  Please click here for the Delegate registration form.  NOTICE:  Even if your delegates will be in person for ELECTIONS on June 17, 2022, ALL DELEGATES MUST be registered via our google form.  ALL delegates will be using their own electronic device for voting again this year, we WILL NOT have clickers for voting during elections.  

EVEN if you haven’t registered for the convention yet, you MUST sign up your delegates by May 25, 2022.  Sign them up now and complete your registration another time or even on-site if you have to, but get those delegates assigned on the google form in this message.  

Frequently asked questions about the system:  

Will the system allow for school addresses?  Yes, Turning Technologies will not be emailing the students, the email address serves as their login, and school addresses will work fine.  

How should they select a password?  

Passwords MUST:  

• Contain one capital letter

• Contain one lower case letter

• Contain one number

• Be a minimum of 8 characters long

Do students have to have a laptop?  Students can use their phones, iPad, laptop or desktop.  But you should have two devices per delegate, one so they are watching on one device and then voting with the other device.  For example, they are watching the elections on a laptop and voting via Turning Technologies from their phone.  

Is the system difficult to use?  Turning Technologies is the same system we use for face to face elections. It is easy to use, and the Illinois FFA Board tested the system from our phones and laptops.  I used it- if I managed it with ease, your students are all set.  

Can a student give out their email address and password to others to get more people to vote?  NO, the system only allows ONE device per email address.  The Illinois FFA Board tested this as well, you CANNOT login on more than ONE device per email address and password.  

Will our Chapter Delegates still get a delegate t-shirt?  Yes, they will be given coupons to get them from the Alumni booth in person and put in your convention registration packets and mailed to your school if participating virtually.  Alumni will be selling convention t-shirts as well as other merchandise again this year.  

My students use Chromebooks, will that be an issue?  Directly from Turning Technologies:  “I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with using the Chromebook.  As long as they can access www.ttpoll.com there should be no issue since nothing needs to be installed.” 

How do I know the system will work on my device?  We will be able to know and troubleshoot any issues during the Business Session on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 3:30 p.m.
