Agriculture Teacher & Co-FFA Advisor
Description
Midland High School, located near Varna, Illinois in Section 5, is seeking an Agricultural Education Teacher/Co-FFA Advisor position for the Fall of 2022. This position is part of a 2 teacher program.
The Midland Agriculture Department currently has 2 classrooms, each with an office, a shared mechanics shop, two greenhouses, and a 20 acre FFA field plot. The current curriculum includes several Agricultural Science courses that receive science credit, Agribusiness & Marketing courses, and Agriculture Mechanics courses. Courses to be taught the coming year for this position include Wildlife, Biology, Animal & Vet Science, BSAA Plant Science, Agribusiness & Marketing, Agriculture Construction, and Agriculture Power & Machinery, (although flexible based on candidates). The program continues to grow to include such course work as Agriculture Engineering to include material closely related to Industrial Technology. The school is 1 to 1 with Chromebooks. Agriculture Education is extremely important and a high priority in our community and is highly supported by the school board and administration.
Candidates must have an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Career and Technical Education Educator License with Stipulations (ELS). The contract length is 12 months as the school district participates in the Three Circle FFA and SAE grant. Salary is based on the CBA and includes extended summer contract, FFA stipend, and Three Circles grant.
