Eureka High School (District 1)- Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

 

Eureka High School, located in Eureka, IL, in Section 5, is looking for an Agriculture Teacher and FFA advisor for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.  

Eureka High School's Agriculture program sees generous community support. Candidates are eligible for the 3 Circles Grant in addition to receiving a competitive salary, TRS, and health insurance options. The program has a large workspace that houses over 2 dozen small engines; 5 MIG welding booths; 5 stick welding booths, and a plasma cutter.

 

Job Description: 

The following is a general overview of responsibilities for a full time, secondary Agriculture teacher at Eureka High School. A successful candidate must possess a current Illinois teaching certificate. An eligible candidate must be capable of teaching all areas of the Agriculture Education Standards. 

 

Classroom Instruction:

*Teach Agriculture classes and work to develop clear career pathways.

*Prepare teaching plans and teaching materials for all classes.

*Evaluate and implement an engaging and meaningful curriculum

*Conduct field trips, both in and out of district and/or plan for guest speakers

*Organize and maintain supplies in the Ag. Shop. 

 

FFA:

*Be willing to serve as advisor for the FFA chapter

*Assist students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, state, and national levels

*Prepare and train FFA and agriculture contest teams and entries

*Assist students in preparing applications for proficiency awards

*Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the local FFA chapter and Ag Dept. 

 

Other:

*Contribute to the preparation and tracking of the budget for the agriculture program each year.

*Purchase supplies and equipment for the classroom and Ag. Shop.

*Cooperate in maintaining, planning, and improving the physical facilities.

*Complete and file required reports with appropriate agencies including the State Dept of Ed. *Contribute to the grant writing process for acquisition of agriculture equipment and materials.
