Teacher Consultants Needed to Develop Storylines for Agricultural Biology
(This message sent to all contacts, administrators, counselors.)
Innovative educators are being sought to join writing teams for the new Agricultural Biology course (ISBE ID: 18004A001). The course will use storylining to help students figure out phenomena and solve problems.
Storylines will align with the Illinois Science Learning Standards/Next Generation Science Standards and the Illinois Science Assessment. Team members will collaboratively conceptualize, write, pilot, and revise storylines for a course titled Agricultural Biology approved by ISBE.
Energetic and forward-thinking educators will engage in a professional learning community to build capacities using storylining to explore biology in the context of agriculture over the three-year experience (2023-25).
-Year 1 will include professional development, collaboration, and writing.
-The writing process including piloting the course will continue in Year 2.
-Expansion of implementation with students and continued revision of resources will occur in Year 3.
This initiative is a joint project of the IAVAT (Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers) and ISTA (Illinois Science Teaching Association) and is supported by both private and public funds. Funding through the new FCAE-Curriculum Resource Management (CRM) grant of the Ag Ed Line Item in the ISBE budget and private donors has been secured to support this project and team members will be compensated.
