Western High School, located in Barry, IL (Section 13 - Illinois Agriculture Education), is seeking a high school Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA Advisor starting in July of 2023.
The program closed following the 2013-2014 school year. We are excited to restart the program at this time thanks to the strong support from our Board, community, students, and local businesses and farmers. Nearly 90% of our students have expressed an interest in enrolling in ag classes.
Facilities include a stand alone agriculture building consisting of classroom and agricultural mechanics facilities. In addition, we are a 1-1 technology district at the HS and JHS levels with all students having Chromebooks.
The tentative courses that will be offered for the 2023-2024 school year are listed below:
Junior High School Courses
Intro to Ag (7-8 Grade Quarterly Rotation)
High School Courses
Intro to AFNR
Ag Mechanics I
Horticulture
Plant Science
Animal Science
These course offerings may be adjusted based on the strengths of the successful candidate.
Salary will follow the Western Educator Association and Western CUSD 12 Contract. The Three Circle Teacher Grant will also be offered to cover additional time for FFA and activities making this a 12 month position.
Interested candidates should hold a Professional Educator License in Agricultural Education, a CTE License with Stipulations in Agriculture, or be able to earn a CTE License with Stipulations in Agriculture.
