92nd Annual Illinois FFA Convention 

It is with a tremendous amount of discussion and deliberation that the Illinois FFA Board has made the following decisions for the 92nd Annual Illinois FFA Convention due to the health risks of COVID -19 and the impact the Stay at Home Order has on our ability to have a full staff to complete the task of coordinating all of the components of our State FFA Convention.  

LDEs, Agriscience Fair and Other Events:  

• Parliamentary Procedure & Conduct of Chapter Meetings

  • Both of these LDEs have been postponed to a date to be determined.  

• Public Speaking

  • Conduct all remaining Section Public Speaking LDEs virtually and have the Section results completed by May 22, 2020.  

  • Conduct District Public Speaking virtually have the results completed by June 2, 2020.  

  • Conduct the State Public Speaking event virtually on June 16, 2020.  

• Agriscience Fair

  • Conduct this event virtually on June 11, 2020.  

• Ag Communications Summit, Greenhand Quizbowl, Band, Chorus and Scrapbook

  • These events are CANCELLED this year.  

92nd Annual Illinois FFA State Convention

• Business Session

  • Conduct Business Session virtually on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

• Stars Over Illinois FFA

  • Present virtually on the evening of June 10, 2020.  

• Elections

  • Conduct Elections virtually on Thursday, June 11, 2020.  The Impromptu Question has been eliminated for this year.

  • Installation of new officers - same conditions as elections.  

• Retiring Addresses

  • Present virtually on selected virtual convention dates.  

• Parent Recognition

  • Present virtually on selected virtual convention dates.  

• State & American FFA Degrees

  • Present/Recognize them virtually July 13 - 17, 2020 one District per night during this week.  

  • District 1 - Monday, July 13, 2020

  • District 2 - Tuesday, July 14, 2020

  • District 3 - Wednesday, July 15, 2020

  • District 4 - Thursday, July 16, 2020

  • District 5 - Friday, July 17, 2020

As we work on converting all of these aspects of the Illinois FFA Convention virtually, please be diligent in checking your listserv messages and emails.We will be sharing a great deal more information in the next few weeks.  

Many may ask why we have spread it out over the course of multiple weeks this summer.  Please know that the decision to keep the Business Session, Stars Over Illinois, and the Election of the 2020-2021 State Officer team in the traditional week of convention is something the board felt was imperative to the timeliness of getting officers elected and celebrating our Stars.  Many teachers, students, officers, alumni, and friends indicated they would be tuned in that week, and the board felt we would have our greatest numbers then for celebrating our Stars and conducting elections.  The remaining events of convention being pushed back into July allows our officers and staff the time to get these other areas converted to a virtual format.
