In order for your delegates to be as informed as they possibly can be prior to the Business Session that begins at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, please be sure to have them review the following information: 

• 2020 List of Illinois FFA State Degree Recipients

• 2020 List of Honorary State FFA Degree Nominees

• Committee Reports

  • Agricultural Education Committee

  • Convention Committee Report

  • Financial Committee Convention Report

  • Member Engagement Committee Report

  • Public Relations Committee Report

• Constitutional Amendment

Illinois FFA Constitution

FFA Board Chair Proposal - Due to conflict of interest risk cited by ISBE, the following changes are being proposed to the Illinois Association FFA Constitution: 
Proposed Motion: 

• Article XI, Section B. 

• Adult Board 1. 

• The official governing body of the organization, which shall exercise the powers granted in Public Law 105-225 (formerly 81-740), shall be an Illinois FFA Board of (adult) Directors composed of:

  •  a. STRIKE: The consultant for agricultural education, Illinois State Board of Education, serving as the State FFA Advisor, who shall act as chairperson; and 

  • b. one consultant in agricultural education; Illinois State Board of Education; and 

  • c. one agriculture teacher educator; and

  • d. five local FFA chapter advisors, one from each district.

  • ADD: e.  The Chair would be nominated and approved from the adult board of the current structure.  Chair would have full discussion and voting rights. Chair can be any one of the qualified adult representatives on the FFA Board.  

  • Action required - final proposal must be voted on by the delegate body in attendance at the 92nd Annual Illinois FFA Convention on June 9, 2020.

  • Ex-officio members of the Illinois FFA Board of Directors shall be the STRIKE: FFA Executive Secretary and the Treasurer of the Illinois FFA Foundation Board of Trustees.  AMEND TO:  FFA Center Executive Staff and State FFA Advisor. 

Reminder of the schedule for delegate participation in the State FFA Convention Business & Elections Sessions:

Practice - Monday, June 8, 2020 @ 1pm

Business Session - Tuesday, June 9, 2020 @1pm

Elections Session - Thursday, June 11, 2020 @ 5pm

Once all delegates have been registered by Sunday, May 31, 2020 an email will be sent to all delegates according to emails submitted during the registration process including instructions for joining the meetings. Copies of these emails will go to advisors to share with delegates in the cases of school accounts blocking external emails.

The business sessions are planned on a Zoom platform to allow delegates to both view presentations/speeches and engage in discussion via the chat function. As a reminder, the voting process will take place on a separate TurningTechnologies app or web browser, so ideally students would have two separate devices (click here to view listserv with previous FAQ regarding the voting platform).

The initial plan is to take the first ~30 minutes from each scheduled start time to process admitting delegates to the meeting and working through a roll call procedure. Final details regarding this process will be sent in the email to delegates and advisors after delegate registration closes.
