My name is Lauren Lynch, and I am a graduate student at the University of Illinois studying the effects of urbanization on pollinator communities. I am currently recruiting citizen scientists who are willing to collect data regarding the pollinators visiting their home and community gardens over the course of the summer. Volunteers would attend a two-hour online training where we will go over some pollinator ID and learn the data collection procedure, and then spend a half hour monitoring their garden for pollinators once every two weeks over the course of the summer. I have attached a flier with a little bit more information about the project here.
I was wondering if you think that this might be something that any of your students/families would be interested in participating in? And if so, would you be willing to share this information with your students/parents? I would ask volunteers to send me an email to sign up for one of the trainings. Right now, I have trainings scheduled for this Saturday 6/6 from 10:00-12:00 am and next Wednesday 6/10 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
I would love to hear from you if you think that this might be something of interest, or if you would like any more information about it!
