Agriculture Teacher Vacancy 2021-2022: Mercer County High School

Mercer County High School- Aledo, located in Section 4, is looking for an Agriculture / Consumer Education teacher for start of the 2021-2022 school year.   This position will replace Michael Chausse, who will be retiring after 33 years at Aledo / Mercer County.   This position will work with Mr. Aaron Heartt, as a two teacher department.  The teacher will be assigned to high school Agriculture, as well as a Food Science class  and Consumer Education courses.  The specific course schedule will be determined after the successful candidate is identified and the course registration process is complete.

This agriculture program boasts a variety of agricultural classes and an active, successful FFA chapter.  Current facilities include agriculture classrooms, greenhouse, aquaponics lab, welding lab, mechanics lab and wood shop.

Applicants must possess a valid Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements in Agriculture Education and a Consumer Education Endorsement is preferred.  Applicants must also pass appropriate background checks and physical examination, including a TB test.

Salary and benefits are determined based on experience & education per the collective bargaining agreement with the Mercer County Education Association. Starting base salary for the 2021-2022 school year is $41215.  The possibility of an extending contract for the FFA Advisor and the 3-Circles Grant will be discussed with the final candidate.
