Meat CDE Opportunities

Hello FFA Advisors and 4-H Leaders,

This is Brandon Klehm at the University of Illinois Meat Science Program, and I have some (although short notice) exciting news! The American Meat Science Association is hosting several contests this month for any high school or junior high students to participate. Although the first has already passed, there are two more in October. There is a $25 fee per student per contest, and the contest will be held on Judge2Win.com. All directions on when and how the contest will be coordinated is found HERE.

If any programs or clubs have any questions for me, or would like to try to setup a quick video call to go over any aspects of the contest, I am happy to make time to do so. I think this is a great opportunity to keep kids evaluating, and sadly I have a strong bet that we will see more virtual contests this coming spring.

In addition, I would like to host a virtual 'meat judging camp' in the spring and if you could please let me know if your program or club would be interested in attending as well as what topics you would really like to be covered to get the most out of everyone's time. I will be sending out a finalized date and plan towards the end of this year, so please send me your responses as soon as you can.
