Applications for Highland Community College's Growing Agriculture Science Teachers (GAST) program are now open statewide! Students who apply and are accepted into the program will take the online three credit hour course, AGRI 190: Introduction to Agricultural Education fully online, at no cost. This is a spring course that runs from January through May. In addition to this course, students will have the optional opportunity to participate in a 40 hour internship experience alongside of an agriculture teacher and earn a minimum of $500. The program flyer, the program information handout, the syllabus for AGRI 190, and the agreement form for the optional internship opportunity are attached.
I ask that interested students complete the
GROWING AG TEACHERS PROGRAM APPLICATION very quickly, by
Friday, November 22, 2025. Limited spots remain. In the event that more students apply than funds allow, preference will be given to seniors, then juniors.
We look forward to hearing back from your students!
