October 10 & 11

Registration Closes - Thursday, October 3, 2019

Click here to register for the conference. The registration form also has the option to pay IACCAI membership dues, allowing for invoices to be paid with one check. As a reminder, members must pay dues by October 31, 2019 to remain in good standing.

Ag College, University, and High School instructors are invited to attend along with all agricultural and educational support groups (guidance counselors, administrators, advisory councils, etc.).  Please forward to individuals that may be interested in attending.

On October 10, there will be tours available, please register to attend one of these tours.  For Agronomy and Horticulture, you may choose whether you want to drive your own vehicle or ride in the van provided.  

In-service/Tours – Please choose one. Starting and ending times will vary, but everyone will be
done in time to check into the hotel and freshen up before the dinner.

Ag Mechanics – This session will be a basic electrical training seminar on D.C. circuits. There
will be many hands-on activities that will be useful for your students. Starts at 12:30 at the ICC
Diesel Building.

Agronomy – This session will tour part of Precision Planting in Tremont, and have a few of their
agronomist discuss the newest data from their plot/research work. Either meet at Precision
Planting at 12:30 or you can ride in our van. We will leave ICC at noon sharp and we will return
you to the Par-a-dice Hotel or ICC.

Animal Science – Dr. Staci Slager, Veterinary Supervisor for the Illinois Department of Agriculture will have a 50-minute presentation on advances in animal traceability, animal diseases and preparedness with biosecurity/secure food supply plans as it relates to animal production in the United States. She will include materials that can supplement lesson plans for an animal science class. That presentation will be followed by industry PR representatives that will discuss crisis management and proper communication for producers faced with an emerging crisis. This interactive session makes a great animal science laboratory for students!

This in-service starts at 1:00 pm in the AIT building on ICC's campus. (Room to be determined). 

Horticulture – Whether you love to garden or just appreciate the beauty of various flora from around the globe, Luthy Botanical Garden is the spot for you.  Spread across over 5 acres in Glen Oak Park, Luthy is home to a tropical conservatory, a theme garden, and seasonal shows. Enjoy a 1 ½ hour-long tour of the garden, learning about the history of this Central Illinois hidden treasure. (apx. $3.00 fee per person).  Either meet at Luthy at 12:30 or you can ride our van. We will leave ICC at noon sharp and we will return you to ICC.

Following a behind the scenes look at Luthy Botanical Garden join us for a short tour of the Illinois Central College Horticulture Land Lab facilities. The 11 acre Land Lab offers state-of-the-art technologies, flower and vegetable gardens, a one-hole golf course, an arboretum, and greenhouses. The arboretum, constructed entirely by ICC students and staff, serves as the living classroom for students in the Horticulture Program. You’ll see a variety of plants collections, as well as student, built hardscapes and a water garden.

8:00am – 10:00am Training Sessions for faculty for PAS contest (choose one each time slot)
8:00-8:30 Livestock or Quiz Bowl
8:30-9:00 Employment Interview or Crops
9:00-9:30 Career Planning or Soils
9:30-10:00 Precision Ag or Discussion Meet

10:00am-11:30 Stop the Bleed This training session will be taught by disaster preparedness staff from OSF Healthcare. Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.  A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes; therefore, it is important to quickly stop the blood loss.

We have a block of 28 rooms of reserved at the Par-a-dice Hotel in East Peoria. We have a discounted rate of $105 plus tax. There is a large conference here in East Peoria those days so hotels are somewhat booked up. The release date for our room block is 9/25, so please make your reservation prior  to this date.  Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-547-0711 and reference code 1010COL (C “O” is the letter “O” L).  Reservations can also be made by going to this exact web address https://www.paradicecasino.com/groups and enter code 1010COL.

 

If you want to stay at other hotels, here are some other options in East Peoria or near ICC, but we do not have blocks:
