Newark Community High School is seeking a full-time agriculture teacher and FFA advisor for the 2026-2027 school year.
Newark High School has a proud tradition of excellence in agriculture education and a very active and successful FFA Chapter.
Newark is located in Section 7, 60 miles southwest of Chicago. Facilities include Ag classroom, Ag Mech Shop, greenhouse, land lab and agriculture/hydroponics systems. The school also is a 1-1 school with Google classroom in use for all classes.
Current Courses Offered Include:
Introduction to Agriculture Industry
Agricultural Science
Agricultural Mechanics
Horticulture Production and Management
Agribusiness Operations
Veterinary Science
Greenhouse production, Landscape and Turf Management
Botany
Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE)
The school is open to review of the current courses as well as exploring options for additional course offerings. The district is interested in candidates that are Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) certified or are interested in becoming CASE certified.
A key component of this position is being the FFA advisor for the school chapter. The FFA is an integral part of the instructional program. It is the duty of the teacher to serve as the advisor of the FFA chapter. It is necessary that the teacher spend time in planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, and cooperative activities for students at the district, area, state and national levels.
It is expected that the Agriculture Teacher/FFA Advisor at Newark High School is active within the district, state and national level of the FFA. Continued professional development and participation in professional growth opportunities is expected.
Salary: Base Salary Minimum - $45,749 including TRS but does not include FFA stipend or extended contract.
Newark offers an 11 month contract plus FFA stipend and participates in the 3 Circles program.
Final Salary will be determined based on the current collective bargaining agreement.
