Prairie Central High School, located in Section 9, is seeking a full- time Agriculture Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will join Becky Freed, Kylie Miller, and Tyson Stork in leading a program of over 300 students. 

Class offerings include Small Engines, Welding, Ag Construction and Electricity, Natural Resources, Veterinary Science, Live Animal and Meats Evaluation, Ag Business Management, Ag Economics, Greenhouse Management, Landscaping, Ag 1, Ag 2, Ag 3, Ag 4. Courses to be taught will be based on the strengths of each teacher, however, a candidate with a willingness to teach agriculture mechanics classes is preferred.

Qualifications:                                                                                                   Candidates must be licensed in the state of Illinois to teach Agriculture; have the ability to work well with administration, staff, students and parents; be a positive influence on students and staff; and have strong organizational skills. 

Salary/Benefits:                                                                                              Competitive, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The starting teacher salary for FY27 is $47,000 with an added bonus at the end of the year. Actual salary will depend on negotiated wages taking into consideration experience and education. A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is available.  Prairie Central participates in the Three Circle grant program.
