Hello Mentors and Mentees!
As we jump into a new semester, January is the perfect time for a reset (fresh starts, renewed energy, and refocusing on what’s ahead). This month’s mentorship focus is all about reinvigorating your partnership and setting your program up for a strong spring.
Mentor Focus
Reinvigorate your mentee!
January is a natural checkpoint to reconnect, re-energize, and help set intentional goals for the semester ahead.
January To-Do List
As you meet together this month, consider working through the following:
Reflect on the fall semester together — what worked well? What didn’t?
Encourage updates to the National Chapter Award and officer goals.
Discuss Ground Zero and Proficiency Applications and how to support students through those processes.
Talk about healthy FFA Week planning — balancing excitement and engagement while still maintaining boundaries.
Share your own mid-year classroom refresh ideas to spark motivation and avoid burnout.
These conversations don’t need to be formal, sometimes the most meaningful support comes from honest reflection and shared experiences. Mentors, your insight is especially valuable during this mid-year stretch, and mentees, don’t hesitate to ask questions or share challenges you’re facing.
Growing Together Tour Reminder:
As you’re planning your January check-in, keep the Growing Together Tour opportunity in mind. This in-person mentoring visit is designed to support focused goal setting and meaningful collaboration between mentoring pairs. We encourage you to consider whether this opportunity could support your mentorship goals for the spring semester. Apply here by January 16th to get in on these visits!
Thank you for the time and energy you invest in this program. Your commitment to supporting one another makes a real difference in strengthening agricultural education across our state.
Please reach out if you need support or resources as you meet this month, we are always happy to help!
Best,
Allie & Sue
