Join fellow school administrators and counselors for a focused, interactive workshop designed to strengthen and support high-quality Agricultural Education (AFNR) programs. This session will provide practical insight into how strong AFNR programs align with school improvement goals while expanding student access to meaningful career pathways.
Workshop sessions will highlight National Program Benchmarks, serving as a practical framework to guide funding and time allocation while identifying priority areas where additional support is needed. Participants will also explore the Middle School Agricultural Curriculum, emphasizing early exposure strategies that build awareness, engagement, and enrollment in AFNR pathways. In addition, a session on Postsecondary AFNR Opportunities will outline career and education options available to students beyond high school, helping counselors better advise students and families.
The workshop will conclude with interactive roundtable discussions, allowing participants to choose topics most relevant to their schools. Roundtables will include conversations on grant opportunities, FFA alumni engagement and community support, new team-based challenges developed to enhance student leadership and collaboration, and additional emerging topics impacting agricultural education programs.
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 10th, at the Illinois FFA State Convention in Springfield. The workshop will run from 9 am to 12 pm, leaving time to attend that afternoon's session highlighting students receiving their State FFA Degree. Registration for this event can be found here! The current agenda and flyer are available.
