Oswego High School, located in the far Southwest suburbs of Section 8, Kendall County, has posted a vacancy for a full-time Horticulture/Science teacher & FFA Advisor for the 2026-2027 school year.   The program has a long tradition of excellence in horticulture and is ready for someone to build on the incredible foundation laid by retiring Meegan McCarthy!

The candidate will be responsible for teaching both horticulture and science (likely biology) courses. Current courses offered through the program include Introduction to Horticulture, Greenhouse Management, and Floral Design. This program is equipped with a beautiful floral classroom lab space with a walk-in cooler and large greenhouse. The program maintains a very nice courtyard that is often used by students for rest and relaxation. There is also quite a bit of space available to expand the school garden and nursery program.

The school district is seeking a candidate licensed in both AFNR and Science, and is excited to work with their next AFNR teacher to build the next chapter of AFNR program offerings in the Oswego school district.

In the first year, it is expected to be 60% Horticulture and 40% Science, but the administration anticipates the candidate will build the program to a 100% ANFR appointment.
