Description: Illini Bluffs High School is starting a New Agriculture Program for Fall 2023.  Illini Bluffs High School is located in Glasford, IL, in Section 5, is seeking Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor.

Duties

Illini Bluffs High School is looking for a student-centered individual looking to work in a supportive learning environment. This position will have access to teach in a brand new, state-of-the-art greenhouse, lead purchasing of new welding equipment, collaborate with current CTE staff to build the course and program frameworks, and serve as an FFA sponsor. We have not had an agriculture program in the past, and we are looking for a teacher who is passionate about creating a CTE-centered learning environment where students can achieve their full potential.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a proper high school science endorsements.

 

Salary/Benefits

Per negotiated teacher contract. School plans to participate in 3 Circles Grant.

Clifton Central  (District 2)  - Ag Business Teacher (2nd Ag Teacher)

Clifton Central High School, located in Clifton within Section 10, is seeking a second Ag teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. 
The candidate would be expected to teach Ag Business and Consumers' Ed courses as their current business department teacher retires. 

Clifton Central operates a community cooperative retail business (selling feed and greenhouse supplies). The Ag Business Management teacher will oversee the Co-op program which is the primary responsibility of the Ag Business Management class. The successful candidate will become a co-FFA Advisor and may have extracurricular or coaching opportunities. Other course assignments may be offered depending on the experiences of the candidate.

Iroquois West  (District 2)  - Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

Iroquois West High School is in search of an Agriculture Education Teacher or long term sub as soon as possible.

 

This position includes teaching Ag 1, Food Science (sem), Ag Communications (sem), Basic Horticulture (sem), Horticulture Production (sem), Agronomy (sem), Animal Science (sem), Ag Construction (sem), and Ag Mechanics (sem).

 

Iroquois West High School has an active FFA as well as a supportive FFA Alumni group. Sponsoring FFA activities is preferred but not a requirement for this position. Additional compensation is available for FFA.

Rolling Meadows  (District 2)  - Agriculture Teacher & Co-FFA Advisor

Rolling Meadows High School, located 28 miles NorthEast of Chicago in Section 8, is seeking an AgriScience Teacher for 2023-2024.  Rolling Meadows High School is a multi-teacher program in a large suburban community. Their program is only four years old and they have already built a strong base of student interest and connection to the community. 
  
Current courses include Ag Biology, Veterinary Science, Horticulture, Food Science, and Sustainable Agriculture. 

The program has a beautiful large greenhouse, a high tunnel for food production, and a vet science lab. Students in vet science classes train therapy dogs as part of their curriculum, which has greatly increased the visibility of the program within the school community.

The position is currently approved for 3 Circles Grant.

Staunton CUSD 6  (District 3)  - 3rd Ag Instructor/FFA Advisor

Staunton High School, located in Macoupin County in Section 15, is accepting applications for a 3rd Agriculture teacher to replace an industrial arts teacher. The successful candidate will join the team with John Davin and Maggie McCalla, current teachers.


The program consists of a wide range of agriculture and industrial arts classes. Current classes include: Intro to Ag, Intro to Tech, Welding 1, Advanced Welding, Construction 1, Advanced Construction, Ag Computers and Engineering, Vet Science, Animal and Plant Science, Ag Business, Floral Design, Horticulture, Conservation and Natural Resources, Ag Mechanics, Electricity, Drafting, Cooperative Education, and middle school agriculture classes. The new hire will work with the current teachers to determine teaching assignments to best fit teacher experience in order to best serve the student population.

Western CUSD 12  (District 3)  - Agricultural Education Instructor/FFA Advisor
Status: Open
Western High School, located in Barry, IL (Section 13 - Illinois Agriculture Education), is seeking a high school Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA Advisor starting in July of 2023.
The program closed following the 2013-2014 school year. We are excited to restart the program at this time thanks to the strong support from our Board, community, students, and local businesses and farmers. Nearly 90% of our students have expressed an interest in enrolling in ag classes.
Facilities include a stand alone agriculture building consisting of classroom and agricultural mechanics facilities. In addition, we are a 1-1 technology district at the HS and JHS levels with all students having Chromebooks.
The tentative courses that will be offered for the 2023-2024 school year are listed below:
Junior High School Courses
Intro to Ag (7-8 Grade Quarterly Rotation)
High School Courses
Intro to AFNR
Ag Mechanics I
Horticulture
Plant Science
Animal Science

These course offerings may be adjusted based on the strengths of the successful candidate.
Salary will follow the Western Educator Association and Western CUSD 12 Contract. The Three Circle Teacher Grant will also be offered to cover additional time for FFA and activities making this a 12 month position.
Interested candidates should hold a Professional Educator License in Agricultural Education, a CTE License with Stipulations in Agriculture, or be able to earn a CTE License with Stipulations in Agriculture.

Decatur MacArthur  (District 4)  - Ag Teacher/FFA Advisor
Status: Open

The Dwayne O. Andreas Ag Academy (www.itstartswithag.com) is seeking an Agriculture Teacher/FFA Advisor to join Becca Merrill at MacArthur High School. The successful applicant will take up teaching duties as soon as possible. This teacher would be joining a four teacher team – two at each high school – who work cooperatively to advise two Andreas Academy FFA Chapters, jointly operating horticulture and livestock activities. This current position is located at Decatur’s MacArthur High School, which functions as an independent FFA chapter, and works cooperatively alongside students and teachers from Eisenhower High School’s FFA chapter.

For the 2022-2023 academic year, classroom instruction will take place within the two Decatur high school buildings. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Andreas Academy will transition most instruction to the $9 million FFA Agriculture Education Center, which is under construction. This facility and adjoining production acreage will house Academy courses and serve as a host site for regional and state chapters to meet for special events.

Created through partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation – www.thehowardgbuffettfoundation.org – the Andreas Academy has grown to 435 students in its fourth year of operation, pursuing an objective to engage non-traditional students in exploring careers in Agriculture. 100% of the students are FFA members, with a focus on encouraging creative SAE immersions. More than 80 area businesses, such as Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), media outlets, family farms and community partners operate as an advisory panel in support of the program. The Academy continues to strengthen ties to the University of Illinois College of ACES (Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences) and to create strategic connections with other collegiate agricultural programs.

Courses to be taught include: Introduction to Agriculture, Basic Ag Science, Wildlife Management, Animal Science, and Ag Business Management

An important component of Andreas Academy activities is a 15-acre school Living Science Farm (www.facebook.com/LivingScienceFarm) to host instructional enrichment activities for animal science, agriculture test and production plots, student-run entrepreneurship, and related hands-on learning experiences.

The successful applicant may have a special interest in one or more focus areas but must demonstrate proficiency in facilitating classwork for each course. Instructors utilize both CASE curriculum and iCEV online-focused resources to deliver content. The Academy covers costs for CASE training and other relevant professional development opportunities. This position offers a competitive salary/benefits package, including significant additional compensation through the Three Circle Grant.

Charleston High School  (District 4)  - High School Career and Tech Ed Teacher
Status: Open

Charleston High School, located in Section 20, is looking for a full-time CTE teacher. This teacher would be responsible for teaching 4 sections of Intro to Agriculture/Intro to Industrial Tech. Industrial Tech classes would be shop classes covering woodshop, CAD, and plasma table at an introductory/exploratory level.  This teacher may also be expected to teach other Ag courses, such as Horticulture, or even a business class, such as Computer Concepts.

CHS utilizes a block schedule. CHS teachers currently teach a total of 3 80-minute classes per day along with an 80-minute prep period each day. Each teacher teaches a total of 6 sections.

Charleston currently employs 1 full-time AG teacher and 1-full-time industrial tech teacher. This position would be adding a 3rd full time position to the department. This year Charleston’s Agriculture and Mechanical center was completely renovated with state-of-the-art tools and equipment. We have a strong focus on growing these programs along with our student-based enterprises.

Salem High School  (District 5)  - Agriculture Teacher/FFA Advisor
Status: Open

Salem High School, located in Section 21, is seeking a full time agriculture teacher for the 2023-2024 school year, as Mr. Matt Pokojski will retire after a successful teaching career. Courses taught will be determined by the strengths of the hired candidate and the high school needs. 

Facilities include a large classroom, lots of storage, a mechanics/wood shop and small greenhouse. The facility is housed separately from the high school. Within the program there are currently 107 students taking an agriculture education course. Current courses offered include Introduction to the Agricultural Industry,  Agricultural Business Management, Basic Agricultural Science and Basic Biological Science Applications in Agriculture.
