1 - Nomination of ILCAE Members for ICAE

1 – State Legislature and Governor’s Office Update (20)
      Discussion:  Communication with Jesse Faber, IAVAT Legislative Committee Chair
      & Patrick Barry, IAVAT Ag Ed Lobbyist, Learn about Witness Slips
      Action Item:  Understand bill language and priorities as contacts are made with legislators
      in support of agricultural education.  Conduct Witness slips for bills.

HB 3178 - ICAE revisions.  Motion to allow flexibility and maintain industry engagement with ICAE.A committee of 13 agriculturalists representative of the various and diverse areas of the agricultural industry in Illinois shall be established to at least develop a curriculum and overview the implementation of the Build Illinois through Quality Agricultural Education plans of the Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education and to advise the State Board of Education on vocational agricultural education, including the administration of the agricultural education line item appropriation and agency rulemaking that affects Agricultural education educators. The Committee shall be composed of the following: not more than 3 (6) agriculturalists representing the Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education; 3 agriculturalists who do not serve on ILCAE,2 (2) Secondary Agriculture Teachers; one representative of (1) "Ag In The Classroom" Teacher but not more than 2; at least one (1)Community College Agriculture Teacher; at least one (1) Adult  Agriculture Education Teacher but not more than 2; at least one (1) University Agriculture Teacher Educator but not than 2; and one (1) FFA Representative. All members of the Committee shall be appointed by the Governor by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.

SB 3644 and SB 3692.  - Synopsis As Introduced

Amends various Acts relating to the admission of students to public universities in Illinois. Relative to the 15 units of high school coursework that each student must satisfactorily complete for admission to a university, adds agricultural sciences as a course option to the required 3 years of science category and agricultural education as a course option to the required 2 years of electives category.

HB2634 -
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that provisions restricting the transportation of students to certain vehicles does not apply to any motor vehicle of the first division or the second division while that vehicle is being operated by specified entities for the purpose of transporting students to or from any agrarian-related school activity. Effective immediately.

4 - FFA Convention, Legislative Webinar, Ag Legislative Day(April 21) and FFA Update (15)
    Discussion:  Past and upcoming activities from major state FFA officers and Mindy Bunselmeyer.
    Action Item:  Assist FFA members with upcoming activities.

5 – Research Report – Why Agriculture Teachers Stay in the Profession (20)
      Discussion:  Review Report Summary presented by Dr. Jay Solomonson, Dr. Lucas Maxwell, Dr. Steven Still
      Action Item:  All members are informed.  Research data is shared across the state.

6 – Three Circle FFA and SAE Grant Research Proposal (15)
      Discussion:  Data will be valuable to have to justify and maintain the funding for this grant. 
      SIUC Ag Ed staff(Dr. Steve Still and Dr. Seb Pense) has indicated interest in conducting this research.  View research surveys.
      Action Item:  Confirm the need for data and offer suggestions to the surveys.

7 – Value of the Ag Ed Line Item ($5,000,000) – How Is It Used?   Future Priorities (15)
      Discussion:  Review the 2020 Illinois Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) Report
      and Major Projects of the Line Item from FCAE and ISBE
      Action Item:  All members are informed.  Priorities for funding for FY22, FY23, and future years
      are established.

8 – State AFNR Core Curriculum on myCAERT.com (10)
      Discussion: Update on the Agribusiness Library revision and other curriculum projects.  Review
      of safety curriculum, Safety Lessons and resources added as a separate library
      Action Item: Identify one to three priorities for each topic.

9 – Sustaining and Increasing the AFNR Talent Pipeline of Quality Employees (15)
      Update on the IL Ag & Food Alliance Workforce Working Group (Tyler Strom)
      Discussion:  Review the progress of this Alliance and Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources,
      and Related Sciences(MANRRS) Grants with FCAE
      Action Item:  Approve, guide, support these initiatives to grow programs and students in urban
      areas 

10 - District Advocacy Awards (10)
      Discussion:  Review application and past award winners
      Action Item:  Set committee to review applications and opportunity to present

11 - Existing Member and New Member Nominations (20)
      Discussion:  Review current list of members, and current constitution, Member meeting attendance records  - Membership year is July 1 to June 30
Section B. Board of Directors The Board of Directors shall consist of 30 Council members elected by the Council membership at the annual meeting.
1. Board members will be elected to a three-year members term or completion of a term of service for a member who has resigned.
a. One-, two-, and three-year membership rotations will be determined by random selection for the first year.
b. Thereafter, members will be elected to three-year terms.
2. Board members may apply for or be nominated to consecutive membership.

        Action Item:  Set membership term for existing members.  Suggest and prioritize individuals to
        contact prior to the next meeting.
