(sent to sections 1-5 teachers)
Dear Teacher-
We would like to invite your school to participate in the 2021 Bayer Crop Science Soybean Pod Challenge. In this contest, FFA chapters will compete to generate the soybean plant with the most pods. Any variety from the Asgrow, Channel, or Stone brands may be entered. Any method to increase podding is acceptable, including increased plant spacing, enhanced fertilization, chemical application, irrigation, pruning, or other techniques identified by students. Seed and signage will be provided by local Bayer Crop Science representatives. Results will be certified by local advisors at harvest time and documented through photos and a completed entry form. Please see the attached flyer for information.
Participation in this contest should only require a small portion of your plot, and can be as simple or in depth as you desire. The project can be incorporated into your curriculum or even developed as a project for the state Agriscience Fair. You can apply for the challenge at: https://bit.ly/3lNPQlq. If you have any questions prior to applying, please contact Jason Carr (jason.carr@bayer.com). An informational meeting for participants will be held on April 19 at 4 PM.
Thanks,
Jason Carr
