The Illinois Farm to School Network is hosting a FREE, one-day Farm to School Boot Camp hosted at Parkland Community College. The agenda is attached and you can find more information at
http://illinoisfarmtoschool.org/
Teams of food service, administration and garden managers are encouraged to join us for a day of learning and hands-on collaboration for all things "farm to school" in a professional learning space. We will share programming, procurement methods that coordinate with USDA and CACFP regulations, connectivity beyond your garden program, and sure-fire menuing ideas for both K-12 and early childhood. Lunch and A.M. Coffee will be provided.
After the classroom training we will head to Fowler Farm for a tour of a working CSA farm that supplies U of I housing facilities, and visit the school's garden complete with chickens, pigs and a duck! There we will meet and mingle with farmers who want to work with institutional buyers. A local food truck will be onsite at the farm! *In case of inclement weather we will move to the Betsy’s Bistro inside Parkland for our networking with local farmers.
ISBE Continuing Education Credits are available for food service staff only.
Thanks again and let me know if you have any questions.
