Southwestern High School, located in Piasa in Section 15, is seeking a maternity substitute teacher for the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year for current teacher, Kaci Geisler.
The substitute will fill in from August 13th – December 22nd. The school day is from 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Courses to be taught include Horticulture, Intro to Vet Tech, Intro to Ag and Ag Business. Facilities include classroom, greenhouse, and agricultural mechanics lab. The harvest of the 30-acre farm plot will also need to be overseen.
In regard to FFA activities, Kaci will be in attendance as available and can be reached via call/text/email throughout her leave. Ideally, the substitute teacher would oversee student FFA practices and transport students to events; however, this is dependent upon who is hired as the substitute teacher. Additional compensation is available for extra FFA duties at an hourly rate of $25.76/hour.
Compensation will be $90.00/day for the first 10 days, followed by the long-term sub rate of $193.22/day. All TRS retirement will be paid by the district. The first semester of the school year will be 84 days for minimum gross pay around $15,200 for the semester, plus TRS.
