The District V Agriculture Education Career Development Event was held on Wednesday, December 4th at Mt. Vernon High School. Thank you to Ms. Cherie Rogier for serving as the location host.
Students participating submitted a lesson plan, prior to the event, that they would teach to an Intro to Agriculture Education class. Participants then presented a ten minute segment of their designed lesson to a room of students while the judges observed. The individuals participating were scored on their lesson plan, delivery of lesson as well as follow up questions.
Congratulations to our top individuals:
1st place - Lydia Phelps, Marion
2nd place - Chloe Hopkins, Eldorado
3rd place - Sophia Biehl, Freeburg
Other schools participating included Grayville, Mt. Carmel, Olney and Waterloo.
A special thank you to our judges for the event:
-
Sarah Fields, Mt. Vernon High School Math Teacher
-
Susan Klieboeker, Clinton County Ag in the Classroom Coordinator
-
Miranda Buss, Heartland Community College Agriculture Instructor
-

An additional thank you goes to the section officers that helped make this event possible by serving as the “students” who the participants presented their lesson to.
Thank you to the agriculture teachers/FFA advisors for encouraging your students to participate. Congratulations to all students participating.
