SIU AG Career Day Speaker – Eric D. Hargan

SIU College of Agricultural, Life, and Physical Sciences is happy to announce that Eric D. Hargan will be the featured speaker for this year’s Ag Career Day.

SIU Ag Career Day will be on Friday, October 1, 2021. On-site registration will begin at 9:00 am, and the speaker will begin at 10:00 am. There will be a college fair from 9:00 am - 10:00 am for students to explore their options after high school. Farm Tours and campus tours will be offered after the event and box lunches will be provided for those who specified that in the registration form.

Location - SIU Student Center (1255 Lincoln Dr, Carbondale, IL 62901). From Highway 51, turn west into campus on Lincoln Drive. The Student Center will be the second building on your right. Registration will take place at the top of the escalators inside the far south entrance of the building.

Drop-off - As you arrive, please drop off all students at the south entrance of the Student Center. While you are parking, students can proceed up the escalators and into the auditorium for chapter photos. Once you arrive inside, you can find your chapter in the auditorium and proceed to registration and the meal.

Parking - Parking for large busses will be located at lot 11 at the student center. Personal vehicles and school vans can park in the lot directly across the road from the Student Center (Lot13). Parking is free and you do not need to worry about paying for the parking meters.

Dress – Official dress or business professional attire is encouraged for all participants!

Masks – Masks are required to be worn indoors at SIU. Please have your students bring a mask with them!

Farm Tours & Campus Tours – Those who do not want to go on a campus tour will meet at the Ag Parking lot at 12:30. Those wanting a campus tour will start their campus tour at 12:30 and then meet at the Ag Parking lot at 1:45 for their farm tour afterwards. Each farm tour is planned to be roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Each school will be responsible for transporting themselves to each stop during the farm tour, however, an SIU van will also be driving the route so that you know where to go. Once we have reached each stop, we will get out of the vehicles, talk about different aspects of the farm, and give the students a chance to walk around and look at things. Students will be at each stop 10-15 minutes before we move on to the next stop.
