Diesel Powered Equipment Technology (DPET) Faculty - Full-Time - Tenure Track
Summary
The tenure track faculty member is primarily responsible for providing lecture and laboratory instruction to students in the Diesel Powered Equipment Technology (DPET) Program. This position coordinates courses, maintains tools and lab equipment, and collaborates with full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
Essential Functions

- Instruct lecture and lab courses related to the repair of agricultural equipment, construction equipment and heavy trucks. Topics include, but are not limited to: diesel engines, harvesting equipment, truck suspensions, brakes and chassis, transmissions and final drives, electrical/electronic systems, engine rebuilding, fuel systems, and hydraulics.
- Develop, implement, and maintain instructional materials and assessments at the course and program levels to ensure students meet all outcomes and are well-prepared for a career in diesel repair.
- Ensure compliance of all college and industry safety rules, regulations, and standards for the safe set-up, operation, maintenance, storage, and repair of lab equipment and materials.
- Actively recruit students via campus events, high school visits, and one-on-one meetings.
- Assist with the set up and maintenance of the lab for instructional purposes, including ordering supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Supervise student internships, which may include some out-of-state, overnight travel.
- Assist with preparing for and conducting advisory council meetings.
- Seek professional development to remain current with industry trends, emerging technology, and the latest teaching tools.
- Mentor and assist adjunct faculty members.
- Work as a team with all faculty members in the program as well as various department and college personnel including faculty, advising, recruitment, marketing, etc.
- Seek and maintain relationships with various industry partners via corporate events, advisory council meetings, and other networking events.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2000 hours of work experience as a repair technician in agricultural equipment, construction equipment, and/or heavy trucks.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Heavy Equipment Technology or related field.
- 5 years of work experience as a repair technician in agricultural equipment, construction equipment, and/or heavy trucks.
- Demonstrated teaching and/or training experience.
- Valid CDL license with an acceptable driving record.
