Joliet Jr. College, Morton Arboretum, and Illinois Agricultural Education are proud to announce that the Urban Forestry CDE is going to happen! It's been challenging to obtain a space.

Find details about the event below and on this event website. If you will be bringing non-ag students (students who are not in the IL AgEd roster system) register them on this form.

If you have questions, please contact Luke Allen directly.

This event is limited to 40 participants: first-come, first served. Please plan accordingly. It will be held rain or shine.

2021 Chicago Area Urban Forestry Career Development Event

Joliet Jr. College, Morton Arboretum, Section 8 IAVAT, and Section 8 Illinois FFA invite you to participate in the Urban Forestry Career Development Event on November 3, 2021.  This is an invitational event so all schools offering courses in Agricultural Education, Environmental Science, AP Environmental Science, Horticulture, and Botany are welcome to participate.  The event has been designed for a teacher to have all students in a course participate, not just selected students. Feel free to use it as an assessment!

Format: The event will be conducted IN PERSON this year.

You are free to arrive anytime, but we will start the contest at 10:00am SHARP. We plan to conclude around 12:30. Lunch will not be provided, it will be on your own.

Inclusion Statement: We value all learners. If you have a student who needs accommodations, please contact organizer Luke Allen to discuss.

Due to COVID protocols, we must limit participation to the first 40 individuals to register. First-come, first-served.

Entry Fee: There is no entry fee to participate.

  • Pre-registration is required for planning purposes.

  • COVID safety protocols will be observed.

  • This is an individual contest, teams will not be identified.  Top 4 students scores create the school score for ranking purposes.

  • There is no limit to the number of students you may register, but the event may only have 40 participants total.

  • Teachers/Chaperones are expected to assist in grading the tests/identifications.
