Sterling High School, located in Whiteside County in Section 2, is seeking an additional Agricultural Educator for the 2020-2021 school year to support an expanding program. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to introduce the importance of Agriculture to a diverse student body. This position will be directly involved in our new Farm-to-Cafeteria initiative.
The district is planning to construct a new greenhouse and Ag Mech lab. Additionally, the school has a strong technology infrastructure, including a 1:1 Macbook Air Environment.
The specific course schedule will be determined based on the strengths of the successful candidate and student interests during the registration process. However, courses likely to be taught include Horticulture, Greenhouse Production/Floral Design, Basic Ag Mechanics, and Environmental Science.
Applicants must have a valid Type 09 Certificate, with preference given to candidates who also have a science certification.
Qualifications
IL Professional Educator License endorsed in the area of Agriculture. Preference given to candidates who also have a Science certification.
