D5 & Invitational Horse Judging CDE

The Horse Judging CDE will take place on September 16, 2022. On-site check in will begin at 9:00 a.m. The contest will begin at 9:30 a.m. The contest will be in person at the University Farms.

SCANTRON - Please make sure your students know their chapter ID and fill it out appropriately on the scantron. Students will specify which team they are on, on their scantron sheets. Varsity will be team 01, JV will be team 02, and practice will be team 03. Click here to view the scantron. Please review this with your students before arriving to the contest!

We will also have teachers fill out a form to specify which students are on which team to ensure our records are correct. Click here to view this form.

There will be six classes. Two classes will be halter classes and four will be performance classes. The halter classes are Hunter Conformation Halter and Quarter Horse Halter. The performance classes are Western Pleasure, Western Trail, Hunter Under Saddle, and Hunt Seat Equitation. Click here to view the patterns for these classes.

Waiver forms are required from every student participating in this contest. Please print the form and send home with students for parents to sign and return. These forms must be brought to the contest for students to be eligible to compete.

Location – Registration will take place at SIU Farms Metabolism and Physiology Center (2422 Union Hill Rd, Carbondale, IL 62901). From W Pleasant Hill Rd, turn south onto Union Hill Rd. The Metabolism and Physiology Center will be the second building on your left. Registration will take place inside the building. The contest will take place at the Equine Center (2194 Union Hill Rd, Carbondale, IL 62901). THERE IS TO BE NO PARKING AT THE EQUINE CENTER. Students can walk up the hill from the registration to the contest.

Registration - Students must fill out this form https://myfuture.siu.edu/register/HorseJudging22 to ensure we have accurate records of those who come to our campus. To save time, please have students fill out this form before arriving to SIU for the contest.

Parking – Small busses and vans may park at the Metabolism and Physiology Center as space permits. Parking for large busses and overflow parking will be located at the Farms Service Center (2704 Union Hill Rd, Carbondale, IL 62901). Parking is free. There will be vans shuttling drivers who park at the Service Center to the Metabolism and Physiology Center. Please drop off students at registration before parking at the Service Center.

Dress – Please dress for weather. Close toed and comfortable shoes are encouraged!

Reminders 

• Writing utensils will not be provided! Please have your students bring their own writing utensils!!
• Clipboards are recommended
• Tell your students to EAT and DRINK before the contest!!
• Please remind your students that this is a contest and there is to be no talking during!
• ***By registering for this contest students are agreeing to their photos being taken and their photos may be used for promotional material in the future
