The Facilitating Coordination in Agricultural Education (FCAE) project is partnering with the University of Illinois ACES Collegiate Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Chapter in organizing the second Illinois Junior MANRRS Leadership Institute on Thursday and Friday, March 23-24, 2023, at the IHotel and University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign campus. View draft agenda and flyer. The Institute will include: student teamwork activities, networking with industry representatives, and interactive workshops.
Register for the Leadership Institute prior to February 17th. Complimentary meals and lodging will be provided to all students and advisors.
Schools with a Junior MANRRS chapter will be provided transportation stipends. Students interested in Junior MANRRS membership without a school chapter can still attend with a MANRRS membership. Click to join Jr. MANRRS for $10. Select Junior MANRRS Academy for Affiliate type.
Junior and Collegiate MANRRS chapters are complimentary organizations to engage more students to increase the pipeline of quality talent for agribusinesses across Illinois. Interested in creating a MANRRS chapter, reply to this email or contact a FCAE program advisor. More information.
Students are encouraged to enter the Junior MANRRS Written Essay contest. This contest is for high school students to prepare a clear, concise, and well thought out essay that discusses the theme of the institute. This contest provides an opportunity for students to gain experience in expressing themselves through writing. Essays will be judged and winners selected prior to the institute. Awards will be provided. Two help sessions(register) are scheduled for: January 25 and February 6 from 3-4:30 pm. Review the essay guidelines (scroll to 2023 Junior MANRRS Written Essay Contest) which are due by March 1st.
Also the National MANRRS Conference was just announced to be at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile on March 20-24, 2024. View Registration Guide (back side of the last page shows Chicago, 2024).
We are very excited to provide increased opportunities for all high school students to be involved in agricultural education and the industry of agriculture and food.
