
Due to significant growth in their new Agriculture program, Heartland College is excited to announce a full-time faculty position is now open for candidates to apply for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The successful candidate will bring ideas to enhance current offerings and explore opportunities to build new and innovative agricultural programs. The faculty member will participate in program development, industry networking, club advising, and student recruitment while developing curriculum to utilize the agricultural land lab, greenhouse, student test plots, and food forest. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about agriculture and desires to lead positive change in agricultural education at the community college level.
The hired individual may be expected to teach a variety of courses in the discipline as assigned, including evening and/or weekend classes, at off-campus locations, and in alternative delivery formats.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in agriculture or agriculture education OR master’s degree in a closely related field, with 18+ graduate level hours in agriculture
- Willingness to teach a broad range of agriculture courses
- Ability to work effectively and inclusively within a diverse campus community
Desired Qualifications
- Successful college-level teaching experience in agriculture, especially at a community college
- Successful academic program development experience, especially at a community college
- Ability to teach courses in the areas of agriculture business, horticulture, cannabis, precision agriculture, plant, or soil science
- Knowledge of and/or demonstrated interest in curriculum development and assessment
- Experience recruiting high school and non-traditional students
