  Vacancy Fall 2023: 3rd Position: Agriculture Teacher and Co FFA Advisor at Kewanee High School

Description:

Kewanee High School located in Kewanee, IL in Section 3 is looking for a 3rd Agricultural Teacher and FFA Advisor for Fall of 2023. Successful candidate will be joining the team of Mrs. Kindra Callahan and Ms. Lexi Ruemker.


Kewanee Agricultural Department has been fastly growing over the past 5 years. Candidate would teach Agricultural Mechanic courses including welding in a welding shop (With recent shop expansion) that includes: 30 welders, including 6 multi process machines that can switch between different welding methods, two oxy-acetylene stations, 

recently purchased CNC table, two oxy-acetylene stations, an iron worker, 3 stationary grinders, more than 10 hand grinders, a metal saw,  large storage areas and multiple hand tools.  

 

Kewanee High School is 2:1 with students having Chromebooks available both in the classroom and in their homes. The school district prides itself on having technology available in all classrooms with most having the most up to date Clear Touch screens. 


The program is well supported by the Kewanee Community Unit District #229 Board of Education as well as an active Kewanee FFA Alumni & Supporters organization. The district has invested long term in Career & Technical Education and the future development and potential success of our students with three capitol expansions in the last three years including: a new Family and Consumers Science building with five residential kitchens and the latest in professional industrial kitchens, a welding addition that now includes 30 welders and our newest addition, the agricultural sciences complex.


The Ag Department prioritizes all three components of the Agricultural Education Model. The FFA Chapter was a 2022 National Finalist with their National Chapter Award application and recognized as a 3 Star Chapter. 


Qualifications

Must have professional educator license with proper endorsement to teach agriculture at the secondary level.

Salary/Benefits

FY23 1/BA = $40,515. Teacher will receive 3 Circles.  Health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance available as well as sick and personal leave.
