CONVENTION TIP of the DAY - Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - PARKING, Downtown Road CONSTRUCTION,  Handicap Parking, Teachers’ Shuttle Information


READ and RETAIN friends, this is an IMPORTANT ONE for anyone driving and parking!


ROAD CONSTRUCTION - AT THIS TIME, SPRINGFIELD HAS A LOT OF ROAD CLOSURES AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION THROUGHOUT THE CITY, PLEASE ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME TO AND FROM THE BOS CENTER.  PLEASE FOLLOW DETOUR SIGNS FOR ROAD CLOSURES.

UNLESS Noted on Your Parking Pass


Paid Parking Passes are REQUIRED to park on the street AND in Lot #24.  For questions, please contact Patti Davis, at pdavis@illinoisffa.org, or (217) 753-3328 Ext. 107.


  • Mini Bus, Cargo Van, or Oversized Truck (Taller than 6 ft. 7 inches) Requires a Paid Parking Pass.  You will be parking at Yellow Bagged Meters (please do not park at meters with a special sign on the bag).  Please do not park at Red/Blue Bagged Meters, you will be ticketed & towed.  Please see below for the list of streets for yellow parking meters. 


  •  Special Blue Bagged Meters with FFA Emblem - We will have blue bagged meters on streets 100 & 200 W Washington Street that will have the FFA Emblem on the bagged meter.  Note: You need to have a blue parking pass to park on these streets.


  • Full-Size Buses - You MUST park in Lot #24, 4th Street (One-Way Street-Runs North), 5th Street (One-Way-Runs South) & Madison Street (One-Way-Runs East).  Note:  Other vehicles will be parking in this lot, so please park your bus so that others can park around you.  Note:  Please be aware of your surroundings and walk in pairs to and from Lot #24.  Do not park in parking lots not authorized for our event.  Please lock your vehicles everywhere!


  • Cars, Vans, Regular-Sized Trucks - Please use the Parking Garages there are several downtown Springfield.  The closest parking garages to the BOS Center are the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel/BOS Center Parking Garage off of 7th Street (One-Way Runs South) Washington Street (one-way runs East) or the Wyndham Hotel Entrance on Monroe Street (One-Way Runs East). The height requirement for most of the parking garages is 6 ft. 7 inches.  Downtown Parking Information


  • ADVISORS - please share parking garage information with parents and families that are attending.  


  • Handicap Parking - Handicap parking is located in the BOS Center & Wyndham Parking Garages. 


  • Yellow Parking Meters Streets Listing (Except for Streets Noted for Blue-Bagged Meters):

    • 700 & 800 East Jefferson Streets (38 Meters) - Streets run East - North side of the Horace Mann Building.  Please note that if you continue east on Jefferson the street is closed by the railroad tracks when trying to get to Clear Lake Avenue East to get out to I-55 or Dirksen Street.

    • 700 E Washington Street (20 Meters) - Street runs East - North side of the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel

    • 800 E Washington Street (22 Meters) Reserved for the Top 10 Foundation Chapters - please do not park in a parking spot with a Sandwich Board on the sidewalk with the Chapter’s Name on it.   There will be additional yellow-bagged meters on this street that you can park in.

    • 100 North 7th Street (21 Meters) - Runs South (on the East side of the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel).

    • 800 E Adams Street (14 Meters) - Runs West (South side of the BOS Center and in front of the Wyndham).

    • 200 S 8th Street (12 Meters) - Goes both directions and it is in front of Saputo’s Italian Restaurant. 

    • 100 & 200 E Washington Streets (38 Meters) - Runs East - Just West of the Old State Capitol)

    • 200 East Adams Street (15 Meters) - Runs East - Just east of the State House Inn.

    • 200 & 300 West Adams Streets (33 Meters) - Utilize the Teachers’ Only Shuttle at the State House Inn Parking Lot.  Corner of South 1st Street & East Adams Street.

    • 100 & 200 West Washington Streets (30 Meters) - BLUE-BAGGED METER PARKING WITH FFA EMBLEM - Runs West - 2 Blocks West of State House Inn.


  • Shuttle Service - Meet at the Statehouse Inn Parking Lot (Picture) - This shuttle service is for schools parked near the State House Inn (100 & 200 East & West Washington Streets and 200 E & West Adams Streets and 300 West Adams Street.  


We will provide a shuttle service for Teachers Only for pickup and drop off at the State House Inn Parking Lot - Look for an IL FFA Center Fleet Vehicle possibly wrapped with a sponsor’s logo:

  • Pick-Up 30 Minutes Before the Session

  • Pick-Up 15 Minutes Before the Session

  • After Session - Meet in the lobby 10 Minutes After Session - Meet in the BOS Center Lobby at the Registration Booth.


If a shuttle is not in the State House Inn Parking Lot and you need to be picked up - please call  (217-685-1334
