Scoring Changes
While reviewing the scoring key, the IAVAT Representative and CDE Committee Representative made the decision to include all 23 questions given by the contest host in the Chainsaw ID/Troubleshooting Practicum. The 23 questions would have increased the points for the practicum to 115 points, not 100 points as stated in the rules. The decision was made to use a multiplier to make the Chainsaw Practicum worth 100 points as stated in the rules. With the multiplier, each question in the Chainsaw Practicum is worth 4.347 points. If you see long decimal points, this is why. This should clear up any confusion in the scoring of the practicum.
Question 15 on the Chainsaw Practicum was also thrown out. The part in question was a scrench, an item not listed in the Chainsaw ID bank in the Illinois Forestry CDE list. It was decided by the IAVAT Board Representative and CDE Committee Representative to remove the question. No points will be awarded for the question.
Question 19 on the Chainsaw Practicum was thrown out for tampering during troubleshooting. No points will be awarded.
Question 7 was thrown out on the General Knowledge Exam. The question dealt with board foot size. The foot and inch indicators (‘,”) were incorrect, including both on multiple optional answers. No points will be awarded for the question.
